This was the first time for any of us to hike at Big Frog. We use the Licklog Ridge Trail to the Big Frog trail to the Rough Creek Trail back to the Licklog ridge trail. We saw several hikers along our journey and one other dog.
We have done some hiking in the adjacent Cohutta Wilderness Area in North Georgia. The Hemp Top Ridge Trail connects the two states if you are ever interested in walking from TN to GA. Also the Benton MacKaye Trail utilizes the West Fork, Rough creek and Fork Ridge Trails in Big Frog and I think Hemp top in Cohutta, which supposedly is part of the Eastern Continental Trail utilizing the Pinhoti and the Florida Trail.
We had a great time, it was the first chance we have had to really use the new lighter weight backpacks we got and just enjoy each other’s company in the out of doors.
